2024 Meeting Schedule for Salem Area Historical Society     

  • Sept. 25 @ 7pm — Dickerson Barn, 7991 N. Territorial Rd. at Curtis Rd. — SPEAKER: Chuck Bultman; Peninsular Paper Company in the Gilded Age. The Peninsular Paper Company (PPC), founded in 1867 in Ypsilanti, was arguably the state’s second most successful company ever. The PPC, as well as other mills stretched along the Huron River, contributed to the great wealth and status that Ypsilanti enjoyed in the 1880’s and 1890’s.

   

2024 Event Schedule for Salem Area Historical Society

  • Friday, September 6 from 7pm to 10pm — Three Cedars Farm, 7897 Six Mile Road. — EVENT: SAHS Annual Barn Dance. “Bow to your partner, bow to your corner….” will be heard often at the Annual Barn Dance.  Admission at the door is $5.00 per person.  Picks & Stick Stringband will be providing the music.  The Square Dance Caller will assist dancers with all levels of experience.  Families and groups are encouraged to attend.  Proceeds will be used for the upkeep of the Salem Area Historical Society’s South Salem Stone School and its Dickerson Barn.  Cider and donuts will be available for purchase.
     
  • Sunday, October 20 at 6pm — Salem Hills Golf Course, 8810 Six Mile Road. — EVENT: Annual Dinner / Auction. This is a Multi-Course 2-Entrée Buffet Dinner, a silent auction, a live auction and Fun for all.  Auction items include: Tickets to area attractions, gift cards, sports memorabilia, historical items, gift baskets and much more.  All proceeds will be used to maintain the South Salem Stone School and the Dickerson Barn.
